Your band's songs in one place, not on one person's laptop
Bandoworx gives your band one shared home for stems and setlists. Everyone rehearses with their own mix on their own phone, no DAW needed, and any member can run the set on stage.
The tracks live on one laptop, in a DAW the rest of the band doesn't use
Someone bounces new stems, sends a folder around, and everyone imports them into their own DAW, if they have one. When that one person is busy, or away, nothing moves.
One source for stems and setlists
The band's library lives in one shared place, not on one machine. Members with edit access change the tracks; everyone else gets the new version.
- Update a stem onceWhoever has edit access replaces a track, and the whole band has it the next time they open the song. No bouncing and re-sending.
- Setlists built from the libraryPick and order songs for each gig, with a break or a straight medley cut between them.
- Roles for each memberAdmin, Can edit or Play only, so the people who should change the tracks can, and everyone else can't by accident.
- Bring the band in by linkInvite members with a link, a QR code or your phone's share sheet. Up to 6 people per band.
Everyone gets their own mix, without a DAW
Each member rehearses on their own phone or laptop, with the band mix or a mix of their own.
- Band mix or my mixTurn yourself down, the click up, mute a part to play it yourself. Your mix is yours; it doesn't change anyone else's.
- Nothing to installIt runs in the browser and installs on a phone like an app. No DAW, no plugins, no session files to open.
- Learn the songs at homeLoop a section until it sits, and rehearse to the set before you're in the room together.
- Notes on a songLeave notes where the band will see them, next to the song they're about.
Anyone can run the show
Any member can play the set from their own laptop. On stage it runs on that device, with no internet needed during the show.
- Get ready, then play offline“Get ready” downloads the whole set beforehand. Once it's ready, playback runs locally; no Wi‑Fi or signal at the venue.
- Each track to its own outputOn a laptop with a multi-output interface, in Chrome or Edge: the band mix to front of house, click and cues to the in-ears.
- The engineer touches nothingThey get outputs from your interface, like any laptop playback rig.
- Not the DAW person? FineRunning the set doesn't need the person who made the tracks. Open the setlist and play.
A few things that help when the night doesn't go to plan
Vamp
Mark a section as vampable: it repeats until you release it, then the song carries on.
Hands-free
Keyboard keys or a Bluetooth page-turner pedal for play and pause, vamp and next song.
Stand-ins
A recorded part covers a missing player at rehearsal, and stays silent live unless you switch it on for the night.
Bands that play to click and tracks, or want to
Everything sits with one person
One member owns the laptop, the DAW and the files. Bandoworx is for bands that want the songs to belong to the whole band.
Not everyone uses a DAW
Your drummer or singer shouldn't need Ableton to rehearse to the set or turn the click up.
You'll need someone who can export stems or a stereo mix from a DAW (Ableton, Logic or similar), or get them from whoever made the tracks. After that, nobody else needs one.
Free during the alpha, with an allowance you keep
We're starting small, with bands that have different setups, so the first bands help shape what comes next.
What you get
- Free during the alpha
- You keep this allowance after the alpha, for as long as we can offer it
- A direct line to us: we reply within a day
What we ask
- Run at least one rehearsal or gig from a setlist
- Then a 30-minute call about what worked and what got in the way
- Tell us when something breaks or confuses you
How we pick
- Bands that play to tracks, or want to, and gig or rehearse regularly
- A mix of covers and originals, and of setups (laptop with an interface, or phone and tablet)
- We reply to everyone who applies, yes or not yet
What it doesn't do yet
- More than two outputs need a laptop with a multi-output interface, in Chrome or Edge. Phones and tablets play on two outputs, for example click on one side and the band on the other.
- MP3 only, up to 6 minutes per track.
- One tempo per song. For songs that change tempo, you place section edges by hand.
- MIDI controllers work on the rehearsal mixer, not yet in live mode.
- No recording.
- Not tested with digital desks over USB.
Apply as a founding band
Takes about 5 minutes. One application per band is enough.
- Tell us about your band and how you run tracks today.
- We read every application and reply within a few days.
- If it's a fit, you get a founding invite link to set up your band.
Before you apply
Why does it run in the browser?
So the songs don't depend on one machine. The library lives in one shared place, every member opens it on their own phone or laptop with nothing to install, and any of them can run the set. On stage it still plays offline once the set is downloaded.
Does it stream from the internet during the show?
No. “Get ready” downloads the whole set to your device before the gig, and playback runs locally with no connection needed during the show.
What do I need on stage?
The recommended setup is a laptop running Chrome or Edge with a multi-output audio interface, so each track can go to its own output. Phones and tablets work too, on two outputs: for example, click and cues on one side and the band on the other.
Is it really free?
Yes. Nothing is paid during the alpha, and founding bands keep their allowance after the alpha, for as long as we can offer it.
Do we already need backing tracks?
You need someone who can export stems or a stereo mix from a DAW, or get them from whoever made the tracks. Bands that want to start playing to tracks are welcome to apply.
When will we hear back?
We reply to every application within a few days. The first founding invites go out now, and more bands join through November and December.
Who's behind Bandoworx?
A small team. It started with a drummer whose own bands run click and tracks, and those bands rehearse with it now.
